Online Educa Berlin 2008

Everyone who is interested in the largest global e-learning conference for the corporate, education and public service sectors”  will have to come to the Hotel InterContinental in Berlin on December 3 – 5. The Center for Global Politics will present its two Master’s programs EES Online and IR Online as part of a Demonstration and Best Practice Showcase session on Thursday, December 4 at 2.30 pm in room Potsdam III.

Three Runs Meet in Berlin

We welcome our new students from the 6th run to our program! Together with the 5th run students they are in Berlin for a week of in-house classes at the beginning of October. On Friday of that week, our graduates from the 4th run receive their diplomas and become EES Online alumni.

Start of Term

Summer is over - at least for our students. They start their second year with the second part of Project Management and with a new module, namely Society. The latter module is taught by a new tutor: We welcome Kerstin Zimmer to the teaching staff of EES Online.

Master Conference 2008 at Freie Universität

On July 17 and 18, Freie Universität Berlin hosts this year’s Master Conference “Master in Praxis” aiming to bring together universities offering practice-oriented Master's programs and companies. The two-day conference seeks to define requirements for study programs corresponding to the demands of the economy. The Master Conference envisages  to strenghten the standing of hands-on Master's programs and to foster the dialogue between education and business. Master's Theses

Our fifth run students started working on their Master's theses. They have three months time to write about 12,000 words on a topic related to Eastern Europe.

E-Leader Conference in Krakow

From June 9 – 11, the E-Leader Conference takes place in Krakow as part of a series of conferences aiming to train tomorrow’s leaders using intelligent exchanges across academic disciplines. Members of the EES Online and IR Online programs teams elaborate on how the concept of e-learning is understood and implemented in both online M.A. programs.

Orientation Week

This week, the Center for Global Politics organizes an Orientation Week which is addressed at former Erasmus students who spent some time at Freie Universität. Participants not only receive information on Master's programs offered by the FU, amongst others on EES Online, but also have the chance to discuss current global challenges in different seminars.17 students from 14 different countries participate in this event.

Studying on-site

It's in-house classes time again. Our students are busy in various seminars. Moreover, this afternoon the Jewish museum gets visited. Tomorrow there will be a lecture by Enno Harks from BP.

Our new intern

Anton Friesen (student of Political Science at the FU Berlin) joins our EES Online team. He'd like to get to know how exactly project management works and also to improve his English proficiency. Furthermore, he is looking forward to helping students in the in-house classes in Berlin.

FU is excellent

The German research foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) announced last Friday that Freie Universität Berlin is among the nine best German universities and will be awarded the title of university of excellence. This confirms all the endeavors of the last years to move this university forward, and to establish it as a distinguished international network university. Our programs under the roof of the Center for Global Politics played their own role in making this huge success possible.

Graduation

Students of the 3rd run were officially presented their Master certificates during our graduation ceremony in Potsdam. Among others, His Excellency, Ambassador of Lithuania in Germany, Evaldas Ignatavicius, addressed and congratulated the graduates. The evening was accompanied by the jazz band "Niels Fölster Quartett" and a buffet.

ICCEES

From August 2 till 4, the ICCEES Regional European Congress is taking place in Berlin. The subject "Transcending Europe’s Borders: The EU and Its Neighbours" is discussed in a lot of lectures and panels. EES Online staffs a stand. Come visit us!

DAAD networking

With 14 branches and 48 information centers the DAAD has created a worldwide network to promote the German Academic Exchange. From June 26 to 27, all DAAD country experts and 140 representatives from 80 German universities, amongst them three members of the Global Politics team, met for the second time to the so-called “network conference (NeKo)” in Bonn. 51 country tables offered  the opportunity to inform about strategies and projects concerning university cooperations abroad as well as marketing strategies to export German education programmes.
